School Policies

Our Structure and Policies

Classroom Structure

Not only is structure beneficial to our personal mental wellbeing throughout the day; it is also a necessity for a functional learning environment for our children. Each classroom has their own personalized schedule posted for all parents to review weekly on the parent board within their classrooms.

Open Door Policy

We believe in an open door policy in which you have access to your child’s teacher and classroom for any reason.  Please do not hesitate to call during the day to talk to a teacher regarding your child.  While our teachers work hard and are teaching during the day, you can make arrangements for a time that is convenient for both of you to discuss any questions or concerns.

Sign In and Sign Out Policy

It is a state requirement for all children to be signed in and out when they are dropped off and picked up from school.  Teachers cannot sign your child in or out of the school. Only a person named on your child’s blue emergency card may remove your child from the school by signing their full name in our lobby book.  Written or verbal approval from parents or guardian is required.  Anyone other than parent or legal guardian that is picking up your child must show identification before the child will be released.  All visitors must check in with the front office with a valid photo ID.  Persons must be 18 or older to sign a child out. Our children are very special and we guard them carefully!!!

Clothing/School Dress Code

Please dress your children in comfortable, weather appropriate clothing.  Please bring a change of clothes in a zip lock bag in their backpack daily.  Please do not send your child in his/her “Sunday Best”.  Our children take part in many “messy” art projects and are active on the playground.  For safety reasons, please NO flip-flops.  Children need sturdy and comfortable shoes that stay on their feet.  Shorts should be worn under dresses.  We will ask parents to change out emergency clothes in your child’s backpack mid-year to account for seasonal weather.

Sunscreen and Sun Protection Policy

While Paradise for Tots Christian Preschool has many wonderful awnings around the playground, this does not fully protect your child from the sun.  Please apply sunscreen to your child before coming to school to ensure proper sun protection.  It cannot be applied by a teacher at school.

Illness Policy and Emergency Procedures:

Do not bring your child to school if they are illDo not give your child fever-reducing medicine before coming to school.  Keep in mind that your child could infect others as well.  Keep your child at home.  Upon returning to school after an illness, children must be symptom free (no diarrhea) and/or on antibiotics for at least 24 hours.  In questionable cases, a doctor’s note may be required.  Please call the office if your child is absent at 602-996-9772.

If your child becomes ill (vomiting, diarrhea, fever, unknown rash, nasal discharge and of course, any communicable diseases) while at school, a parent will be called to come and pick up the child.  Your child will stay home the following day.  If you bring your child the next day, they will immediately be sent home.  Children can return to school 24 hours after the 1st dose of medication AND 24 hours after the time of being picked up from school if parent is called.  In addition, they must be fever free without fever reducing medicine.  We are very serious about our ILLNESS POLICY.  EVERY PARENT MUST READ THIS POLICY AND UNDERSTAND IT BEFORE REGISTERING WITH PARADISE FOR TOTS CHRISTIAN SCHOOL.

If a child sustains a minor injury while at school, first-aid will be administered immediately and an “incident form” will be given to the parent for review.  A call to the parent(s) will be made if necessary.

EMERGENCY BLUE CARD   Upon enrolling your child, a blue emergency card is required by the state.  This “blue” card is for the purpose of gathering emergency information and other pertinent information about your child for our records.  In the event of a serious injury or illness, we will contact the parent and paramedics immediately.  If neither parent can be reached, another person from the blue emergency card will be contacted.  If no one can be reached, 911 will be called and appropriate procedures will be followed to ensure the well being of your child.  Parents will be notified in writing of any exposure to disease or infection.  State law requires our teachers to be trained in CPR and first aid.

Emergency Evacuation:  If an emergency happened that we would need to  evacuate our building and premises, we would walk our children safely over to the Dance Studio (in the same parking lot as ours) which is our designated evacuation site.

Television Policy

Our school wide policy is to rarely have the use of televisions within the classroom with the exceptions of the following:

  • To assist teachers with classroom transitions (diaper changing, snack prep, return from outside play, etc)
  • Minimal use for aiding in curriculum with educational programming
  • Special occasions for classroom reward or special occasions

Pesticide Policy

We post pesticide notices 48 hours prior to when we are serviced by BeeBee’s Pest Control and Burn’s Pest Elimination.  This is applied after our school is closed.  For more information please see documentation on the bulletin board outside of the kitchen.

Medications Policy

All medications/diaper cremes/lotions must be brought to the front office, and a written medical authorization form must be signed by both the office staff and parents before any are administered.   Medications cannot be transported in backpacks, lunch boxes, or water bottles.  Not all medications can be given at school.  Epi Pens must be in a locked cabinet in your child’s classroom.
